Follow the Wind

Being as though this is the Christmas holiday today for many of us, I decided something cool and wintery was in order.

This is part of a new collection of images from the Canadian Rockies. To capture the streaking/blowing snow in such a radial pattern I used many attempts in the high winds with a wide angle lens. The ice is translucent with naturally dark background, revealing the ‘pancake’ ice bubble patterns formed under the surface. As I have said many times, Abraham lake is in my opinion inexplicably famous for these formations as you can find them thousands of places, and often times even better elsewhere. I had fun with them here as a foreground combined with the snow. The background was hard to control but eventually I managed OK.
