Equipment: Camera: Canon 7D; Lenses: Canon 10-22, F3.5 to 4.5 and Tamron 18-270, f3.5 to 6.3. Tripod: Manfrotto 3004BPRO with a Manfrotto 3265 gun style ball head. Accessories: Canon 380 Speed flash and numerous filters and misc. gear. Printer: Canon Pro 9500 printer. Other: color monkey colorimeter.

Current Project: After retiring in 2007, Judy and I wanted to travel as much as possible. Currently our country count is around 26. After each trip, I make a photo book of the trip with descriptions of each photo to remember the trip by. Currently we have 13 different books of trips and events (such as Judy’s mother’s 90th birthday party). I started using My Publisher to have the books printed but have recently started using Blurb. I also like to make music videos of some of the trips and have ones for Turkey/Greek Islands, Iceland/England, and am currently working on one for Switzerland/Italy. I like to play around with my images with Nik and Photoshop filters and combine them in interesting ways.

Post Processing: Ansel Adams said that the negative was the score and the print was the symphony. I have used Photoshop since version 4 and am completely self taught. I currently use version CS6 and Lightroom, version 3.6. I recently got the Nik set of plug-ins and have been having fun learning to use them. I have both ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer to make picture videos. I have used the Coral Paint program in the past also.

Statement: I grew up outside of Seattle and have been attracted to photography since a teenager. I made a darkroom out of my parent’s hall closet and taught myself how to develop and print black and white film. Near the end of my college years, I had the time to take a quarter long course in photography – my only formal training. After marrying my wonderful wife Judy and the arrival of our two children, lack of money put photography on the back burner until the kids were out of college. I bought a new Canon film camera in the late 1990’s and went to digital with the Canon 20D in 2004. I joined a camera club in Seattle in the late 1990’s where I became very active and which helped greatly to improve my photography skills. Judy and I retired and moved to Hillsboro , OR in 2007.
